Artist, Sadie Barnett just hipped me to this video. We share a deep love for the city of Oakland. This video is as much about what one might experience walking down MacArthur as it is about some of the folk that make Oakland so profoundly spacial — special. What does this have to do with Chicago? I guess the macro view of what I am currently investigating (by bouncing from city to city and looking at “jazz”)  is radical and radically influential modes of creativity. Oakland and Chicago share something in this regard in that the most refined performances and products of radicality are birthed (or as Sun Ra would say, berthed) out of the working class communities rather than the educated elite.

So check this. And I issue my profoundest respect to YAK films for schooling me with this one.

Chills. I gots chills.
